Ngalawa

Ngalawa is a unique furniture crafter which embraces the natural beauty of ancient dhows, a one or two-masted lateen-rigged wooden boat. Long after their cargoes of silk, dates, and exotic spices have been forgotten, the dhow’s wood can still be used and repurposed. Our furniture is hand-crafted from this very wood, providing one-of-a-kind, exciting furniture for those with discerning taste. Some of the pieces we offer are enhanced with hand-carved decorations that our craftsmen embellish. Their themes echo the stunning African wildlife, fruits, and plants of the shores that the dhows would have alighted onto in the distant past. Our bespoke furniture is easily customisable and will enhance any home.
