About Oliver's House
Oliver's House was founded in 2001. We focus on a number of social services including:
Nomthandazo Children's Care Centre is a project financed entirely by Oliver's House. The care centre cares for 210 disadvantaged children from the Zenzele infor censoredsettlement. The care centre was founded in 2000 and Oliver's House took over the financing of the centre in August 2001. The centre is managed much the same as any private pre-school in South Africa. The centre teaches the children fine motor skills, numeracy, sequencing, etiquette and much more.
Our education centre is situated at 73 Woburn Avenue in Benoni. The education centre forms part of our FET program. each class can take up to 30 learners. Free extra lessons are given in Maths and Science to Grade 11 and 12 learners. Most of the learners come from the disadvantaged communities of Daveyton and Etwatwa. We also focus on exams and assessment and vocational guidance.
COMPUTER TRAINING CENTRE:
Our computert training centre is also situated at 73 Woburn Avenue in Benoni. The computer training centre forms part of our skills development program. All training is free and our beneficiaries are unemployed persons and learners who don't have access to computers at their homes or school. The training centre can take up to 30 students per class and the average course is 3 months. Lessons are given in basic computer skills and training in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
ZENZELE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT:
Zenzele is an infor censoredsettlement in Daveyton. The services we provide to this community are: a feeding program, community vegetable gardening and skills development. We are also in the process of introducing cheap affordable solar powered solutions to lighting and heating.
Oliver's Village is an ambitious project aimed at creating a village providing multiple social services. Oliver's Village is situated in Putfontein within walking distance of Zenzele. Facilities will include an HIV/AIDS clinic (already built), pre-school for 250 children, orphanage for 48 children, learning centre and organic farm. We started developing this project in 2011 and it will take a number of years to complete. Oliver's Village is designed on self-sustainability principles. Electricity is supplied via solar systems and water is supplied by borehole and rainwater harvesting systems.
In total Oliver's House is a multi-functional charity organisation. We receive no funding from the state and all funding is from the private sector. We invite you to visit us and join us on one of our donor tours.
