A warm welcome to Bloubank Tented Safaris! Opened in 2014, this authentic South African bushcamp is an ideal getaway, where you can shrug off the stresses and strains of every day life and immerse yourself in the magic of the bush.

A perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Johannesburg, just five hours away by road, the camp is located on the 15,000ha Blue Canyon Big Game Conservancy, just outside the lowveld town of Hoedspruit. It features five traditional Meru-style safari tents which combine the thrill of sleeping under canvas with rustic charm and those all-important touches of luxury.

This is Big Five territory, where you have the chance to see lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant on your game activities each day. Cheetah and wild dog are also sighted regularly, and the birding is outstanding.

The landscape at Bloubank Tented Safaris is dominated by views of the magnificent Drakensberg escarpment, where the Blyde River slices through ancient rock forming one of the most impressive canyons in southern Africa.

At the centre of the camp lies the original farmhouse, built more than 40 years ago when the conservancy was a vast cattle farm. Now it is the hub of the camp, offering a cozy lounge and dining area, bar and kitchen, where fabulous home-cooked South African fare is prepared for guests.

Meals are enjoyed out on the expansive "stoep" or verandah, overlooking a small waterhole where a wide variety of game regularly comes to drink. If it gets chilly there's a huge dining table inside, and an inviting boma with its crackling "bush TV" fireplace offers the perfect place to unwind while sharing tales of the bush and the day's events.
