Vulcanised natural rubber compounds are resistant to most inorganic chemicals with the exception of oxidising agents such as chromic and nitric acids. They are resistant to a wide range of organic chemicals, including alcohols, many esters and other oxygen-containing derivatives.

The epoxy is a lot lighter than ceramic tiles. The epoxy can withstand a lot more impact than ceramic tiles. The epoxy is very easy to patch should any damage occur
The cost of the epoxy product is considerably less expensive than the ceramic tiles. Apart from the lagging of pulleys the same product can be used in chutes, pumps, screens, launders etc to protect against erosion as well as corrosion which is a big problem in the mining industry, particularly coal mines.
